Limerick SHC Round 5 Preview

The Group Stages of the Limerick SHC reaches it conclusion this weekend with the final round of games in the championship. Four places in the knockout stages are already guaranteed with two of Na Piarasigh, Doon and Kilmallock to enter straight into last four. Patrickswell have booked their spot in the quarter finals.

On Sunday there is a double header in the Gaelic Grounds with Patrickswell and Na Piarsaigh meeting at 2pm which will be followed by the clash between Kilmallock and Doon at 3.45pm. Na Piarsaigh can guarantee a semi final berth if they avoid defeat to the Well. Doon and Kilmallock meet with Doon needing a win to secure a place in the last four as they lie two points behind their opponents. Should they lose or fail to win they will join Patrickswell in the quarter final with the Balbec advancing straight to the semi final.

The groups other fixture pits Adare against Ballybrown with Group 1 status at stake. Ballybrown prop up the group and need a win if they are to maintain their place in the top tier. Adare lie on a point and know if they avoid defeat they will avoid relegation.

In Group 2, South Liberties and Murroe Boher are in pole position to reach the quarter final stages of the championship as they top the table on six points a piece. South Liberties face  bottom of the table Cappamore who will be relegated to Premier Intermediate should they fail to win. A win for Liberties will ensure a place in the last six.

Similarly, a win for Murroe Boher over Knockainey will see them advance into the knockout stages. If Cappamore are victorious against South Liberties and Knockainey fail to pick up a point here, then they will be relegated.

Monaleen who are on five points face Ahane who have four to their credit in the groups other game. Monaleen will reach the knockout stages if they win and one of the top two fails to secure a victory. For Ahane to advance, they need to beat Monaleen, the top two to both lose and finsih with a score differential better than South Liberties and Murroe.
