The Shannonsiders have lost four on the trot in the second tier of the League with just one more round robin game to come.
Limerick suffered a fourth successive National Camogie league loss on Saturday afternoon with Down securing a 2-13 to 1-6 victory in their 1B clash.
It leaves Limerick bottom of the table without a win as they face Offaly this weekend in a repeat of last year’s relegation final. The Faithful county, like Limerick, are yet to win a game but did draw with Antrim.
Down dominated the opening half in Leitrim, taking a commanding 1-9 to 0-3 lead into the interval and while Limerick were improved in the second period, it wasn’t enough to overturn the deficit.
After reaching the All-Ireland quarter-final last year, Limerick are now in real danger of suffering a second successive relegation. Details on the Offaly fixture are yet to be confirmed.
It was also a poor weekend for the Junior side who were comprehensively beaten 4-12 to 0-4 by Dublin.
