Limerick Teams Learn Fate in FAI Junior Cup Draw

The three remaining Limerick sides in the FAI Cup learned who their opponents would be in the last 16 of the competition today. Ballynanty Rovers, Fairview Rangers and Regional United all remain in the hunt for National glory following last weekend’s victories.

Ballynanty were convincing 5-0 winners over Donegal outfit Castlefin Celtic and their reward is a trip to Dublin to take on Old County FC. Regional United were winners in dramatic fashion as Kieran O’Connell scored an extra-time winner against Strand Celtic to give his side a 2-3 win in an even contest. Regional will take on Clare side Newmarket Celtic and that tie will be played at Dooradoyle.

Record FAI Junior Cup winners Fairview Rangers earned the victory of the round as they defeated Athenry on penalties. Both sides are flying high in their respective league campaigns but Fairview had it all to do as they went 2-1 behind and were also reduced to ten men as Stephen Bradley was sent off. However, they managed to equalise through the in-form Jack Arra and Jason Cross converted the winning penalty to secure a big victory.

Fairview Rangers will travel to Wexford to take on Gorey Rangers who knocked Summerville out in the last 64 of the competition.
