The Shannonsiders welcome Waterford in the Munster quarter-final in April in a repeat of last year’s clash.
The Limerick U20 Footballers have revealed their captain and vice captain for the 2023 season with both coming from county winning set ups.
Fr Caseys’ Diarmuid Buckley will take over as captain of the side replacing Ruadhan O’Connor who led the side in 2022. Buckley was a key part of the Abbeyfeale side that won the Limerick Premier U21 championship in December where they defeated Newcastle West. He was also a part of the Fr Caseys side who reached the Limerick SFC semi-final where he was named at corner back in the defeat to Adare.
His vice-captain is Ballysteen’s David O’Shaughnessy who was top scorer for his club in the SFC as well as their U21 side as they claimed the A county title against Ballylanders last month.
O’Shaughnessy kicked 1-2 in Limerick’s 2-9 to 1-6 win over Waterford in the quarter-finals of the 2022 championship. This year the sides will meet at the same stage but Limerick will have home advantage for the April 10 clash.
The Ballysteen man also scored 1-5 when the teams met in the Munster Minor quarter-final in 2020.
The reward for the winners of this years quarter-final will be a meeting with Cork on April 17.
