Limerick’s Claire O’Riordan included in Irish WNT Squad for World Cup Qualifiers

The Limerick native recently joined Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.

Following her move to Scottish giants Celtic earlier this month, Claire O’Riordan has been named in the Irish Squad for next week’s 2023 Fifa Women’s World Cup Qualifiers.

Vera Pauw’s side take on Finland next Thursday in Tallaght before travelling to Bratislava to face Slovakia on Thursday September 6.

Both games will be broadcast live on RTÉ2 and the RTÉ Player.

Ireland are looking to seal their place at next year’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand after moving up to 26th in the World Rankings earlier this month. Qualifier opponents Finland currently sit in 29th with Slovakia in 43rd.

O’Riordan recently completed a move to Celtic after a number of season in Germany, following a successful spell with Wexford.

The Newcastle West native joined the Scottish giants after four seasons with MSV Duisburg in Germany where she helped the side to promotion last term
