Limerick’s wait for League victory goes on

Limerick footballers must wait a little bit longer for their first League victory since 2022. That is after they slumped to a frustrating four point reverse to Wexford at Mick Neville Park in Rathkeale.

John Hegarty’s men turned in a sharper second half to take the points at leave Jimmy Lee’s men frustrated for the second week on the trot.

Scores from Emmet Rigter, including Limerick’s first ever two pointer, and frees from James Naughton gave Limerick a 0-7 to 0-6 interval lead.

However, there was replies from Sean Nolan and Niall Hughes, with Wexford registering eight wides in a half they certainly shaded in terms of territory.

Nolan and then Páiric Hughes both kicked two pointers to put the Slaneysiders in control. The replies from Andrew Meade and Peter Nash weren’t enough, as late scores from Glen Malone, Martin O’Connor and Nolan sealed the away victory.

Interestingly, Limerick have conceded five two-pointers in their two games, while landing just one – from Emmet Rigter.

Limerick head to London in two weeks time, after London secured their first win over the 2025 season on Sunday afternoon, defeating Wicklow.
