Limerick are travelling to Aughrim this Sunday with two wins from two under their belt thus far in the League.
Wicklow will no doubt provide Billy Lee’s side with their sternest test to date but the manager is quick to point out the positives from the League campaign thus far.
“The boys are developing themselves. We saw shoots of that late last year and they’re continuing in that vein into 2019.”
“Certainly the next number of games in the league will tell us how far forward we’ve moved.”
The form of the Limerick forwards will be pleasing to the manager with each of the six starting forwards getting on the scoreboard against Waterford last time out.
Such was their form Seamus O’Carroll was named on the GAA.ie team of the week.
However, one man that was singked out for his performances has been Mungret’s Patrick Begley who has slotted in brilliantly at full forward for the side.
Begley’s sheer size gives Limerick a different option at full forward, something Lee acknowledges.
“Yeah, he’s definitely a genuine target man and I hope his form will continue.”
The work rate of the Limerick team has also been notable with enjoyment the key factor in Lee’s eyes.
Limerick are moving better both forwards and backwards as a unit and it is showing in the on-field performances.
However, the manager isn’t taking Wicklow lightly with Aughrim a notoriously difficult venue to get a result in.
“Generally if you’re enjoying something, you’ll work harder. Certainly the lads are enjoying the year so far. That’s all positives so it’s just understanding how far we’ve moved on from last year.”
“Look we’ll go and take on the challenge they provide and see how that unfolds.”
