LISTEN: Ciarán Carey says “Limerick showed great maturity” in beating Kilkenny

Sporting Limerick spoke to Limerick hurling legend Ciarán Carey following Sunday’s win over Kilkenny. The three time All-Star was unsurprisingly impressed with how John Kiely’s charges performed at Semple Stadium.

“What I saw was business as usual, they were fired up and technically very good, I saw that at a very early stage yesterday. Even when Kilkenny got the the goal I wasn’t (worried) because straight away from that stage they showed great maturity and they managed that next five to six minutes technically brilliant.”

Carey goes on to talk about how this current Limerick crop are as good as he has seen in the green jersey.

“As I said at the start of the year this particular Limerick squad is as good a squad as I’ve seen. You don’t want to have fifteen Tom Morrissey’s or fifteen Cian Lynch’s. Basically you want every player to do a certain job on a particular day and yesterday every one of them man for man did their jobs and not only that, Shane Dowling came on and got a great score and Peter Casey to me technically is probably our best forward over the past few years so he’s really after throwing down a gauntlet.”
