Crescent College Comprehensive and St. Munchins College will compete in the Charity Cup final tomorrow at the Markets Field to raise money for the Peter McVerry trust.
The schools will play each other for a cup in honour of two former Games Masters, , the late Dudley Herbert and the late Sean Conneely.
This is the second year that the Cup will be played for and both an
excellent match and good attendance last year means this year’s match is
earnestly anticipated.
St Munchins Coach, Dave Quinlan, is delighted his side will be taking part once again this year, highlighting the success of 2017.
“It was a great idea to introduce this charity cup last year and it proved to be a great success.”
“The match itself is as close you can get to the intensity of a (Senior) cup match. It was great preparation and I think it will serve both teams.”
Crescent College Comprehensive’s Chris Cullinan echoes the sentiment.
“We’re always looking for competitive matches and to play in a kind of cup atmosphere.”
“There’s a cup at stake. Its Crescent vs Munchins so it has a really good
feel to it.”
This year the sole charity that will benefit from the Dudley Herbert-Sean
Conneely Cup is the Peter McVerry Trust who do much good and necessary
work within Limerick and beyond.
The game kicks off at 5pm in the Markets Field on Friday
December 14, all are welcome!
