LISTEN: “I want to win this for my family” – Keenan

Martin Keenan will contest his 3rd Consecutive Elite Super Heavyweight Final on the trot when he takes on last year’s champ Dean Gardiner at the National Stadium on Saturday.

Keenan will face Dean Gardiner in a repeat of last year’s 91+ kg final in which Gardiner game out victorious.

Fellow Rathkeale boxer Nell Fox is guaranteed her 17th title at the weekend on a walkover as potential opponents dropped down weight classes to avoid her.

He saw off Galway’s Gydis Linskyas in last week’s semi final and the Rathkeale fighter is expecting another tough battle against Gardiner this time around.

“Whenever you are boxing Dean Gardiner it’s a tough challenge. I have very big respect for Dean Gardiner, he is at the top for years.

“This year I have done enough training. I have kept myself running, boxing and sparring.

“Everything that I have been told to do by my coach i have done it. This year is my year.”
