LISTEN: John Kiely not interested in "phoney wars" during league campaign

Limerick start their defence of the Allianz Hurling League campaign against All-Ireland holders Tipperary this weekend and manager John Kiely is taking nothing for granted.

His side added the Munster Championship and Allianz Hurling League to the All-Ireland won in 2018 and have began 2020 in similar fashion by winning the Munster Hurling League.

However, he is keen to point out that those victories all count for nothing as they prepare to face a trip to Thurles on Saturday.

“This is the point of the year when things step up a notch. We have all been bust for the last 6 or 7 weeks with pre-season and that’s all behind us now.

“We are ready for the off now on Saturday night with Tipp in Thurles. It’s going to be a very competitive fixture, a great fixture to start the league.

“It will really focus the minds and looking forward to it. The players have worked hard over the weeks and we are ready for it now.”
