LISTEN: Limerick ladies football manager John Ryan expecting “a tough game” against London.
Limerick ladies footballers take on London this Sunday in Mallow with a place in the All Ireland Junior final up for grabs. Limerick enter the game off the back of a highly impressive performance against Carlow last time but Limerick manager John Ryan isn’t taking anything for granted against this London side.
“We’re expecting a big challenge. London have a very good side. They could have and should have beaten Louth the last day and they will be very hard to beat. They play a running game where their half backs move the ball up the field.”
Limerick play London after topping their group courtesy of the 6-10 to 1-3 victory over Carlow in Askeaton. London finished second in their group of four, recording two wins from three games played. Their solitary loss came at the hands of Louth who are the only team left with a 100% record. Louth play Derry in the other semi final on Sunday in Aghaloo.
Ahead of the game, John Ryan has commended his players for their preparations for the game. He is confident in his sides understanding of their roles but is also aware of how games can change in an instant. He also says the Limerick senior hurlers can be an inspiration for his side with their maturity and discipline to the fore in the All Ireland triumph.
“Look it will all be down to one hour of football. You can plan a lot of stuff and next thing you have to go to plan B, C or plan D maybe.”
(On the Limerick hurlers) “We’ll be hoping to do something similar on Sunday and get our day out in Croke Park and get over London. But it’s going to be a tough game.”
Limerick v London takes place this Sunday, August 26 in Mallow, with throw in at 12.30.
