LISTEN: “Kilkenny game will be a great test for us” – Declan Nash

Limerick go into their All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship fixture with Kilkenny on Saturday on the back of a five point loss to Galway in their last game.

Declan Nash’s charges put in a fine performance up in Athenry last Sunday, but he is acutely aware that his side are heavy underdogs against Kilkenny.

The Marble County have been in the last three All-Ireland finals against Cork, winning in 2016 and losing by a point in the decider in both 2017 and 2018.

Despite that loss to Galway, Nash says that the self belief within the squad is growing all the time.

“A lot of the stuff from the Galway loss is our own stuff and can be fixed. We have made a massive effort to focus on ourselves and not the opposition all year round and it’s paying off massively.

“A couple of goals went astray and a couple of turnovers went against us. Teams like that punish you and it’s just about sharpening up and limiting those situations.

“The likes of Cork and Kilkenny are maybe five, six years down their development than us. It’s just a case of nailing the consistency.

“Bar that blip in Birr (big defeat to Galway in league semi final) the consistency is something that can’t be questioned.”

Limerick play Kilkenny at John Lockes GAA, Callan on Saturday at 5pm.
