LISTEN: Limerick Minor Camogie captain Ailbhe Larkin on championship cancellation

Last week the Camogie Association announced that the 2020 minor camogie championship would be cancelled.

While the dates were confirmed for the Senior, Intermediate and Junior Championships to start, the decision was made to cancel the minor competition which began in March.

On Friday evening the Limerick minor camogie issued a statement calling for the organisation to reverse their decision.

This was subsequently backed by the Limerick Camogie board.

And speaking to Sporting Limerick earlier today, captain of the Limerick Minor Camogie team, Ailbhe Larkin said she hopes that there is a ‘reversal of the decision’.

“I hope the association can see how much the girls want to play camogie. At the end of the day all we want is to win a minor all Ireland and compete for that. I don’t see it as a huge ask to the camogie association but they might see it as that.

“I just hope they take into consideration how much the players want this, everything we have put into this, the commitment, the sacrifices and hopefully they will reverse their decision.”
