New Limerick FC signing Clyde O’Connell may have been forgiven for turning down the chance to return to the club this summer. With players leaving on a weekly basis, Limerick appear to be in freefall off the pitch which is hindering progress on it.
However, the strong central midfielder turned centre-back’s desire to return to the Airtricity League and represent his county rages on regardless.
I have always wanted to go back and play with Limerick. The goal was to go back and play in January but several circumstances resulted in it not happening. I only wanted to stay out for a year.
To be honest, I didn’t even really want to go out for the year but things happened. In another way it was good to get away and I didn’t realise how much I ‘d miss training and the professional set-up. I am really happy to be back.
O’Connell also speaks about his time with junior club Regional United as well as his ambitions and the upcoming game against Longford Town.
