The Limerick Ladies Footballers will return to All-Ireland Championship action later this year and will face Derry and Antrim in the group stages of the competition.
Last year Limerick were relegated from the Intermediate championship after winning the Junior in 2018.
For manager Donal Ryan, it is important to develop a squad for the future that is capable of competing.
“It’s great to be back. We can’t go back to training until the 14th of September. But we thought the year would be a right-off so its nice to have something to aim for.”
“I don’t want to go up and come back down so if we don’t go up, so be it. I want to go up and stay up, that’s the original plan.”
Ryan also outlined how the break may have a positive impact on sport in the future saying that ‘people might appreciate it more’.
