Treaty United manager Dave Rooney joined us to look back on the club’s maiden season in the Women’s National League and U-17 Girls League. Treaty finished 9th in the league and also reached the semi-final of the FAI Cup.
The senior women’s season concluded yesterday as Peamount completed the double by defeating Cork City 0-6 at Tallaght Stadium. Rooney was full of praise for the Treaty United committee for their efforts and support throughout the campaign.
“Looking back on the season, it has been largely positive. The big positive points were getting up and running as Treaty United. Also, the board really took the Women’s team on board. I know the long-term plan for Treaty United is to have men’s teams in the Airtricity League, but they really took on board that the women were going to be the flagship team.
We used the women’s team as the template going forward. It was hugely positive that people who had backgrounds in men’s soccer only got involved. They gave us everything we needed, and I couldn’t have asked for any more as a coach.”
