Limerick District League joint manager Aidan Ryan has paid tribute to his players as they advanced to the final of the Oscar Traynor Trophy last week.
Limerick defeated the Leinster Senior League 3-2 after extra-time in a thrilling encounter. Janesboro FC were asked by the Limerick District Members Committee to represent the league in the tournament and Ryan feels that the league can be proud of the players.
“We are absolutely delighted with it. It was a great result for Limerick. These lads are very proud to represent their city and their county. They had an opportunity to get to a national final and they grasped it.
It was tough going but the lads battled their way to victory. The fact that we have got to a final now vindicates the leagues decision to ask us (Janesboro).”
Aidan speaks about the game in more detail as well as the challenge awaiting his side in the final. Also, Ryan discusses Janesboro’s run in as they look to win their third consecutive title. Listen below.
