Pike Rovers manager Mick Sheil has been busy preparing for the FAI Junior Cup clash against St. Kevin’s Boys on Sunday in Dublin (2pm). Sporting Limerick caught up with the former Limerick FC assistant manager to preview the game.
St. Kevin’s Boys have been renowned for producing players at underage level in the past including Jeff Hendrick and Robbie Brady. However, the junior team have been less successful in recent seasons. Sheil has been keeping an eye on Sunday’s opponents.
“They were in the AUL a few years ago but I think they have lost their way a bit since then. They went into Leinster Senior and they are getting it back together now. I went up to watch them last Friday and they won 3-1 against Ashbourne so we’d have a good bit of knowledge in that way.”
On the injury front, Sheil is happy that he is close to full strength ahead of the crucial encounter.
“Wayne O’Donovan is out. We have a couple of lads coming back like Pat Mullins who will return on the bench. We have a few more lads out long term like Wayne Colbert but everyone apart from Wayne O’Donovan is fit.”
Sheil also speaks about the league campaign, the impact of striker Johnathan Grant and the changes made to the side from last season.
