Limerick FC manager Tommy Barrett expects a tough season for his young side in the Airtricity League First Division which kicks off on Friday night. Limerick host Longford Town at the Markets Field (7.45).
Barrett is happy to see the recent sponsorship and private investment come through to aid current owner Pat O’Sullivan.
“Yeah hopefully. It’s good to get sponsorship on board. I know that the Daly’s sponsored us last year through Limerick City Taxis. We always need sponsorship and hopefully we can get more.”
Despite losing the likes of captain Shane Duggan and Cian Coleman from last season’s squad, Barrett is upbeat about the personnel available to him for the new year including Karl O’Sullivan and Will Fitzgerald.
“Yeah it’s great to keep the two lads. We have some other good young players coming through as well. Hopefully they can progress this year and we can get another two or three to do well and get recognised as well. “
