Limerick FC’s longest serving player Shane Tracy is confident that the current group of players can reach the play-offs.
The belief has grown following the dominant 3-1 win over Longford Town last weekend with three high class goals from Tommy Barrett’s men.
“I think the manner in which we won was great. I think we played really well and went ahead early doors with Tomas O’Connor and his first senior goal was brilliant.
“To react after conceding a goal straight after showed character and also quality with the excellent goals we scored.
Despite the financial trouble and numerous departures from the club, the core group remains at the Garryowen venue and Tracy praised the attitude of the current group of players and urged supporters to get behind the local talent.
“I have said it since the start of the season that it has been a very good squad. Everyone is smiling in training and everyone wants to be there to play. People move on in football and that’s just the way it is.
“The boys are still committing to training which is a credit to themselves and they are enjoying it too.
“To go out and put in performances like we did against Shelbourne and Longford is really positive and we are just hoping that people will keep coming to watch us and they enjoy it when they come to the Markets Field.”
Shane also speaks about the progress made by Tomas O’Connor and Karl O’Sullivan as well as the upcoming game with Bray Wanderers.
