LISTEN – UL Fitzgibbon Cup captain John McGrath “We were ruthless that’s what you need at this level”

Tipperary hurler John McGrath will have the chance to claim his second Fitzgibbon Cup title following an emphatic 4-16 to 0-19 win over DJ Carey’s IT Carlow on Tuesday evening.

The UL captain scored 1-4 on the night bested only by his fellow Tipperary man Jason Forde who claimed 2-5.

“We knew coming down it wasn’t going to be easy and the score line doesn’t reflect how tough the game was.” said McGrath.

The corner forward is determined to complete his final year in UL with another trophy and says that the side have learned from last years disappointment.

“After last year we knew that it was going to be anything but easy and it proved it again tonight. Tonight we took our chances and we were ruthless, that’s what you need at this level.”
