LISTEN: Williams “not worried about scoreline, just getting 3 points”

New Pike Rovers manager Robbie Williams was very happy with his side’s performance in the 6-1 thrashing of title rivals Janesboro at Crosagalla on Thursday evening.

Pike were dominant throughout in a victory which sends a message to the rest of the league. Eoin Hanrahan (x2), Wayne O’Donovan, Johnathan Grant, Conor Kavanagh and Shane Walsh were the scorers.

Action from Pike’s 6-1 win over Janesboro

Williams was pleased with how dominant his side were against last season’s champions.

We aren’t bothered about the score line, it’s just all about getting the right result. We played well but it is just the start of the season and there is a long way to go yet.

We would have taken 1 or 2-0 at the start of the game but 6-1 is a flattering score and we will take it.

It was a great start to life in the managerial hot seat for Williams and the Hoops will travel to Garryowen Green on Sunday morning to face Geraldines, another side who won their opening game against Nenagh.
