Limerick man Andy Lee claimed the WBO Middleweight title on this day three years ago.
Andy Lee secured the WBO Middleweight title against Matt Korobov following a 6th round stoppage back on December 13th, 2014.
The Limerick man caught his Russian opponent with a devastating right hook and then landed 18 successive punches to secure the belt.
Following his title loss to Billy Joe Saunders in December, 2015, Lee, of St Francis Boxing Club, Limerick, returned to the ring in March, 2017 and recorded an eight-round unanimous points victory over Alabama’s KeAndrae Leatherwood at Madison Square Garden’s main arena.

The former World Champion was most recently seen in Eric Donovan’s corner, as the Kildare man defeated Juan Luis Gonzalez on December 2 in Dublin, Lee acted as his trainer for the majority of his pre-fight camp.
