Lynch, Byrnes and Casey shortlisted for GAA.ie Hurler of the Week

Lynch won the award in 2021 following a similar type performance while Byrnes is the reigning Hurler of the Year as Casey was given the Sunday Game equivalent in the wake of the contest.

The shortlist for the GAA.ie Hurler of the Week following the 2023 All-Ireland final has been revealed with no surprise as three Limerick men were named.

Cian Lynch, Diarmaid Byrnes and Peter Casey are those in the running with each playing a central role in Limerick’s fourth successive All-Ireland win.

Cian Lynch (Limerick)

When Limerick were encountering problems in the opening period captain Cian Lynch remained defiant. Lynch clipped two points from play during the game and crafted several more for John Kiely’s talented team.

Peter Casey (Limerick)

Five points from play underlined Peter Casey’s classy contribution in the All-Ireland SHC Final. Casey’s second half scoring spree decorated a dynamic Limerick display.

Diarmaid Byrnes (Limerick)

Diarmaid Byrnes drilled crucial points from distance throughout for Limerick. Byrnes, who had a great tussle with the impressive Tom Phelan, struck eight points, including one from play, while also making some brilliant catches.
