Lynch, Hannon and Hegarty nominated for player of the week

Back-to-back All-Ireland champions Cian Lynch, Declan Hannon and Gearoid Hegarty have all been nominated for the GAA’s player of the week.

The “Messi of Hurling” has once again turned heads getting yet another nomination for player of the week. The centre-forward was man of the match in Limerick’s All-Ireland victory over Cork last Sunday, scoring 6 points from play and was never far from any action throughout the fixture.

Hegarty scored two of Limerick’s three goals on Sunday and also scored two points from open play. Last years player of the year made a strong case for this years award as well.

Hannon is the first Limerick captain since Mick Mackey to lift two Liam McCarthy cups, and the first to ever captain a side to three All-Ireland titles. The Adare man did leave the pitch before the final whistle, but had pointed his team in the right direction before he exited.
