Former Janesboro manager Shane O’Hanlon has left his role as manager of Limerick District League side Aisling Annacotty just halfway through the 2020/2021 season. O’Hanlon took charge of his final game on Sunday with Aisling defeating Premier A side Corbally United in the Lawson Cup.
The news will come as sudden development to many with the club currently sitting in 3rd place in the premier division and still competing in the Munster Junior, Tuohy and Lawson Cups as we enter the business end of the campaign.
Aisling announced the news on the club’s official Facebook and Twitter page earlier today.
O’Hanlon joined Annacotty in 2020 and led the club to their first ever Munster Junior Cup success, beating Fairview Rangers in the final at Jackman Park. The 2020/2021 season was due to be his first full season in charge but Covid-19 restrictions put an end to football in October and the whole season was cancelled.
Due to his success with Annacotty and Janesboro in the past, it is likely that O’Hanlon will return to junior football management in the near future. It is expected that John Lysaght, who acted as assistant to O’Hanlon will take temporary charge of the team as they prepare for Sunday’s league game against Regional United.
