Martin Russell has been named PFA Ireland Out of Contracts players managers

The former Limerick manager will take charge of the squad until January.

Marin Russell has been named manager of a PFA Ireland out of contract player’s camp that includes League of Ireland players that are actively seeking a new club. Gary Rodgers has been named the goalkeeping coach for the camp.

There are 12 training session in the lead up to January with two of them being games. The date, time, venue and opposition will be announced when they are confirmed. Martin Russell commented:

”I’m looking forward to getting back on the training pitch and working with the players. The aim is to keep the players sharp and to have them in good physical condition and ultimately to assist them find new employment ahead of the 2018 season.”

PFA Ireland General Secretary, Stephen McGuinness said,

“The training camp is now a fixture in our calendar and we want to give our members the best opportunity possible to help them gain employment for the coming season. We are delighted to have Martin on board and we are sure the players will enjoy working with him.

I would also like to acknowledge and thank the following for helping with this year’s training camp. Stephen Lambert & Bohemian F.C. who have provided equipment for this years camp, Jonathan Roche & Shamrock Rovers who have offered the camp the use of their training facilities at Roadstone.

“Martin Connolly & Dundalk F.C. who have offered the camp the use of Oriel Park for any upcoming fixtures and Dave Minto of CX+ Sport who has provided the camp with training kit for each player. We are grateful to all mentioned for their generous support to the camp and the players involved.”
