Mary I conclude Fitzgibbon Cup campaign as they welcome UCD to Limerick

Jamie Wall’s side are out of the running in the competition.

Mary Immaculate College take on UCD today in the third round of the Fitzgibbon Cup on the MIC Grounds at 12.30pm.

The game is a dead rubber with both sides eliminated from the competition in the previous round.

Mary I were defeated by League champions NUI Gaway after falling to defending champions UCC in the opening game. UCD were also beaten by both teams.

Pride will be on store for two sides who have proven their worth in the competition in recent years, with Mary I claiming a pair of titles in 2016 and ’17.

Jason Gillane is the only Limerick man that is part of the home squad and flourished in the first game knocking over a pair of great scores.

Elsewhere in the group, UCC and NUIG meet to determine the table toppers.

The University of Limerick will be in action tomorrow evening as they travel to Grangegorman to take on TUD. UL are almost guaranteed to progress after their 5-30 to 0-14 win over TUS MidWest in the opening round after TUS then beat TUD by eight. UL will have to lose by 50+ points to fall short of the quarter-finals while any sort of result against TUD will also secure TUS’ progress to the knockout stages. That game throws in at Dublin at 6.30pm
