The Limerick side retained their county title a fortnight ago in a repeat of the 2020 final.
Monagea return to the provincial series this Sunday as they travel to Killarney to take on Kerry kingpins Dr Crokes in the Munster Intermediate Ladies Football quarter-final.
The West Limerick side will be looking to go one better than 2021 when they were beaten by Kerry opponents in last year’s decider.
A fortnight before Christmas last year, Castleisland Desmonds collected the title with a 1-5 to 0-7 win as a late goal proved the difference.
Two weeks ago, Monagea retained their title with a 1-10 to 1-7 win over St Ailbes in Bruff. The West Limerick side trailed by a pair at the interval but a strong second half helped overturn the deficit as they avenged defeats in the 2019 and ’20 finals against the same opposition.
After defeating Ailbes, Catriona Davis spoke of the sides desire to go one better than 2021 as they quickly shifted their attention to the provincial quarter-final.
“We’re going to enjoy this win, we’re going to celebrate tonight, I think we deserve it and we’ll put the heads down and get straight back into it then and hopefully go one step further this year and hopefully win a Munster final.”
