Mungret’s Catherine Murphy receives GAA President’s Award

Mungret St Paul’s LGFA stalwart Catherine Murphy was the recipient of a President’s Award from the GAA for her services to her club.

She was be one of 11 recipients as she was honoured with the Ladies Football Award.

Catherine has been a volunteer and active member of the club since its foundation 27 years ago, spending many years in executive roles or in the background on committees as well as been an active player at club and county level.

The most significant impact of Catherine’s involvement is best seen at the under-age academy. From its inception, Catherine has been an omni-presence in the academy. Over the years she has encouraged parents to get involved in the club at some level. Her support for the executive and committees has been inspirational

She represented her county team with aplomb and won an All-Ireland Junior title in 2010 as the sides goalkeeper. She also officiated on All-Ireland final day, taking charge of the Intermediate decider in 2020. She is also the current secretary of Mungret St Pauls LGFA as she described her love of the game ahead of tonight’s event.
