It will be a repeat of last year’s final where Limerick needed extra-time to see off Clare in an epic in Thurles.
The venue for the 2023 Munster Senior Hurling Championship final will be announced on Monday evening at a Munster CCC meeting. Limerick and Clare will do battle for the second successive season on June 11 following a hectic final round of action in the championship.
Clare booked their place in the final a week ago with their win over Cork enough to ensure their spot in the decider. Tipp were in pole position to join them but their shock defeat to Waterford opened the door to Limerick who will be competing in their fifth successive final.
It is a repeat of last year’s final where Limerick needed extra-time to see off Clare in an epic in Thurles. During their historic run, Limerick have competed in finals in Semple Stadium (2022 & 2020), Pairs Ui Chaoimh (2021) and the TUS Gaelic Grounds (2019).
This year’s decider is set to be played in either Thurles or Cork.
Thurles has hosted five of the last eight finals while Clare’s most recent provincial victory came in the venue 25 years ago. Prior to Kiely’s apponintment, Limerick had been beaten on their previous Munster final in either venue, 2007 in Thurles and 2014 in the Pairc.
Ticket details for the game will be announced following the decision on the venue.
