Munster Wheelchair Hurling event proved a success last weekend in Newport

The Munster round of the Wheelchair Hurling League took place at St Mary’s Secondary School in Newport County Tipperary last weekend.

Newport GAA Club along with Munster GAA were involved in the organisation of the event, while the Tipperary club also provided a Guard of Honour for the visiting teams via their underage players.

Tipperary Hurler Sean O’Brien and Limerick Camogie Players Niamh and Judith Mulcahy came out to support the final round of League fixtures.

The event proved an outstanding success and all visiting teams and supporters were loud in their praise of the welcome and hospitality provided in Newport.

Newport was the final stop in the Wheelchair Hurling League where Ulster GAA was crowed 2019 League Champions.

The next event is the All Ireland Wheelchair Hurling Championship which takes places in Abbottstown at the end of October.
