Last week two of the Limerick football champions successfully navigated their way into the provincial semi-finals.
Limerick hurling kingpins Na Piarsaigh, Monaleen and St Kierans will all be in Munster Club championship semi-final action this weekend.
None have featured thus far in the championships with the Limerick champions receiving a bye into the last four.
Na Piarsaigh’s clash with Ballygunner is the standout tie of the round, and arguably of the entire weekend as they meet in a repeat of the 2018 final.
On that day the Waterford side finally got over the Caherdavin men to inflict their first ever defeat in the provincial series.
That was Na Piarsaigh’s last venture into the Munster championship after missing out in 2020 due to the pandemic. In the meantime, Ballygunner went on to claim the elusive All-Ireland title as they left it late to best Ballyhale Shamrocks in last year’s final.
The meeting of the two giants will be shown live on TG4 this Sunday with throw in at 3.45pm. The winners will play one of St Finbarrs or Ballyea who meet earlier in the day.
Monaleen will represent Limerick in the Intermediate championship as they did in 2018, where they will have St Joseph’s Doora Barefield in the opposition corner.
The Clare outfit had too much for Causeway in the quarters just over a week ago. Four years ago, Kilmoyley defeated Monaleen in the Munster semi-final.
This Sunday, Kilmallock will host the clash of the sides while Inniscarra and Roscrea face in the other semi-final.
St Kierans will end a ten year wait for Munster club championship action as they take on Banner on Saturday in Cusack Park. The Clare side came through Kerry’s Kilgarvan in the quarters.
Ten years ago, St Kierans reached the Junior decider where they were bested by Cork’s Kildorrery. The winners will meet one of Colligan or Ballygiblin in the decider.
