Nash and Loughman return to training but O’Donoghue needs scan as in-form Munster prepare for Scarlets

Munster scored nine-tries in their win over Ospreys to make it four on the trot in the URC and move into the top five.

The Munster squad have started their preparations at the HPC ahead of Friday week’s URC round 15 clash against Scarlets at Musgrave Park (March 3, 7.35pm).

Following the win over Ospreys, Liam Coombes (thigh), Paddy Patterson (calf), Jack O’Donoghue (calf) and Jack O’Sullivan (thigh) will all go for scans this week.

There is good news for Jeremy Loughman (thigh) and Calvin Nash (chest) as they return to training this week.

It was confirmed last week that Tadhg Beirne underwent surgery on an ankle injury and has been ruled out for up to 12 weeks.

On the international front, Keith Earls is unavailable for Ireland this week due to a calf issue.

Joey Carbery has been added to the Ireland squad to provide additional cover. Gavin Coombes and Roman Salanoa return to Ireland camp and Ben Healy is back with the Scotland squad after being released for Friday’s win over Ospreys.

10 Munster players lined out for their clubs in the AIL at the weekend.

Dan Goggin, Patrick Campbell and Shay McCarthy were in action for Young Munster as they were beaten in Clontarf with McCarthy touching down.

Kieran Ryan, Darragh McSweeney and Daniel Okeke helped Shannon to a victory over Dublin University with Okeke a try-scorer on his return from injury.

Neil Cronin touched down for Garryowen and Tony Butler kicked a conversion as they were beaten by UCD.

Daniel Hurley lined out for Cork Constitution in their defeat to Lansdowne.

Scott Buckley was in action for UCC as they lost to Buccaneers.

Continuing to rehab: Tadhg Beirne (ankle), James French (leg), Liam O’Connor (neck), Chris Moore (neck), Tom Ahern (shoulder), Eoin O’Connor (shoulder), Paddy Kelly (head), Jack Daly (knee), Andrew Conway (knee), Mike Haley (ankle).
