The ‘Well will be heavily favoured to overcome their parishioners this Sunday, dominating the fixture in recent years.
Neighbours face off this Sunday for a place in the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship semi-finals as Ballybrown and Patrickswell meet.
Sharing a parish, it will all be on the line this weekend in the TUS Gaelic Grounds which is a repeat of the 2016 SHC final.
On that occasion, Patrickswell ended their 13-year wait for honours while Ballybrown last lifted the Daly Cup in 1991.
The game will be streamed live by Limerick GAA TV.
The teams come into the contest off the back of differing results. Patrickswell guaranteed their quarter final berth with a win over Kildimo Pallaskenry last Saturday while the following day, Ballybrown missed out on promotion, falling to Mungret St Pauls.
However, results elsewhere went in their favour as the three-point defeat was enough to finish second in the group and join Mungret in the quarters.
It was a first defeat of the year for the Clarina men as they won three of their first four outings in the second group. Wins came against Monaleen, South Liberties and Garryspillane while they drew with Adare.
And they led for 55 minutes against neighbours Mungret St Pauls before falling to a late onslaught. A win would have guaranteed promotion back to Senior A after a two year stint in the second tier.
Patrickswell started their campaign like a train, defeating the defending champions Na Piarsaigh by a pair of points with Hurler of the Year elect Aaron Gillane in scintillating form.
However, defeat followed the next week against Doon with a loss to Kilmallock sandwiched between victories over Ahane and Kildimo Pallaskenry. The reversal against Doon saw them finish fourth on head to head.
Still, the ‘Well will be heavily favoured to overcome their parishioners this Sunday, dominating the fixture in recent years.

- 2017 QF: Ballybrown 1-15 : 0-18 Patrickswell
- 2016 Final: Patrickswell 1-26 : 1-7 Ballybrown
This is the first meeting of the teams since the group stages in 2018 with Patrickswell needing a replay the previous summer at the quarter-final stage. Sunday will be their ninth successive quarter-final. Last year’s defeat to South Liberties was their first at the stage during that timespan with seven semi-finals in a row previous to that.
Ballybrown are in the knockout stages for the first time since 2020 when they were beaten by eventual champions Na Piarsaigh.
According to the bookies, Patrickswell are heavily favoured to get through to the semi-finals and are priced at 1/6. Ballybrown can be got at 9/2 with a draw 12/1.
The prize for the winners will be a semi-final against Kilmallock. After playing out a cracker in the group stages against the Balbec, Patrickswell will be keen on a rematch but Ballybrown cannot be overlooked with huge firepower.
Throw in this Sunday is at 4pm in the TUS Gaelic Grounds.
