Next Generation of Limerick Camogie to Reap Benefits of New Academy

Not only did Monday see two brands come on board commercially with Limerick Camogie in what is a huge boost for the Association, but a Programme of events that took place around the launch included a number of exhibition matches played by U13, U14, U15, U16, Minor and Junior County Teams at the Limerick Institute of Technology.

This year will be the first time that all the underage county squads will be training in LIT every Saturday morning as part of the newly launched Limerick Camogie Academy.

This is a partnership that Limerick Senior Camogie Captain Caoimhe Costello was very thankful for in her speech at Monday’s Launch and one that will hopefully provide success to future Limerick Camogie teams:

“Thank you all for coming here today and making it such a fantastic occasion, for not only the players but the parents and all the other teams that participated here today”

“On behalf of the players, I’d like to thank LIT for the significant support that they have given us over the last few months

“To the players in the academy, you are in a very lucky and fortunate position that the Academy has been launched and that you are still able to participate in it because I have no doubt that the Academy will be the launching pad for years and years of success for Limerick and I look forward to watching on and supporting the Academy every step of the way.”

Limerick Senior Camogie Manager Declan Nash paid tribute to the Fitzgerland Woodlands House Hotel and their Sponsorship of the Limerick Senior Camogie Team over the last four years as being key in their operation at Senior level:

“Down through the years the support and even the confidence we have from the Woodlands Hotel and what they do for us on Matchday, Traning and Traning Weekends and Food and that’s all down to the vision they have for Limerick Camogie, the pride that they have for Limerick Camogie and just their Support for Women’s Sport.

“They’ve really helped us develop as a squad and as people over the last four years so it’s not just on the field that they have been a huge addition.”

In addition to Monday’s event, Limerick Camogie also unveiled their new Jerseys sponsored by Fitzgeralds Woodlands House Hotel, who will feature on the Senior Jersey and LIT who will sponsor Limerick’s Premier Junior Camogie Team. A presentation was made to both Sponsors on the day in an all-round very positive and exciting time for Limerick Camogie.
