Limerick Celtics star Kevin Oberweiser hit an amazing 50 points last night in Dublin to lead the Limerick side to their third straight win on a 101 to 93 scoreline.
The Celtics led from the start in a very fast-paced game and played some really good team basketball throughout the game. Tolka Rovers kept the game really close for most of the game with some excellent shooting but the Limerick ballers managed to put some distance between the two teams in the fourth quarter with some excellent fast break and inside scoring.
Top scorer by a mile on the night was Oberweiser with 50 points followed by Carlos Hortelano (22 points) and Deividas Venckunas (12 points).
Meanwhile, the Limerick Celtics Boys team made it back to back wins in Cork when their Under 16 boys won the Cork Under 16 National tournament yesterday at the Parochial Hall defeating Ballincollig 47 – 40 in a cracker of a final.
Sixteen teams from all over the country competed in this National tournament event. Limerick Celtics Boys made an excellent start to the tournament by winning their pool games earlier in the day by defeating Fr Mathews, Moycullen and Tralee Imperials to set up a semi-final against Maree Galway.
The Celtics made light work of the Galway side to win 46 – 34 and continued their great teamwork in the final to bring the cup back to Limerick.
