ODDS | Diarmaid Byrnes the new front runner for Hurler of the Year award with Limerick already favourites for four-in-a-row

Limerick will attempt to become only the third team to ever achieve a four in a row when they return to action next year.

History was made in Croke Park yesterday as Limerick sealed a first ever three-in-a-row of All-Ireland titles, eleven months after a maiden repeat.

Kilkenny made Limerick work for the win but in the end it finished 1-31 to 2-26 in John Kiely’s sides favour.

Gearoid Hegarty was the scoring star on the day as he chipped in with 1-5, his goal of the highest order. That was enough for a four point lead at the break but twice Kilkenny levelled in the second period but Limerick stayed strong for the victory.

That brought their undefeated record in the championship to 16 games, their last loss coming against Kilkenny all the way back in 2019.

And already, Limerick are favourites to make it four in a row with Paddy Power having the Shannonsiders at 5/6 favourites to join Kilkenny and Cork as the only teams to win four on the trot.

2022 runners up, Kilkenny are next up on 6/1 as they search for a first win since 2015. Galway, who were beaten by Limerick in the semi-final are at 13/2. Cork are fourth favourites at 10/1 while Munster finalists and All-Ireland semi-finalists Clare are 14/1, the same as Waterford.
