O’Mahony to captain Irish team that has 11 changes from England hammering

Munster captain Peter O’Mahony will lead an Irish team that shows 11 changes for Saturday’s World Cup warm up game against Wales in Cardiff.

Irish coach Joe Schmidt has opted to include seven Munster players from the start, with Tadhg Beirne getting a chance to impress in the back row.

Beirne’s inclusion sees O’Mahony move to openside flanker. Andrew Conway, Chris Farrell, Dave Kilcoyne, Niall Scannell and John Ryan are the other Munster players in the starting lineup.

The other major talking point is Jack Carty getting his first start at 10 for Ireland. Will Addison and Garry Ringrose are the players covering the out half position.

Warren Gatland has opted to name an experimental team to face Ireland in Cardiff with Rhys Carre and Owen Lane making their debuts.

The game has a 2:30pm kick off and is live on Channel 4.
