The Limerick native led Ireland to victory over the Maori All-Blacks this morning.
After suffering a heavy defeat against the Maori All-Blacks in the opening game of the tour to New Zealand last month, Ireland responded in style this morning with a 24-30 win in Wellington.
Following on from the win over the All-Blacks on Saturday, the Keith Earls led side ran in four tries while the hosts added a consolation effort late on.
Earls’ Munster teammate Gavin Coombes was on the scoresheet, scoring from close range as the veteran spoke of his pride in captaining the team.
“Genuinely it was one of my proudest moments.”

Earls continued,
“All the people back home, the place I’m from, Limerick, rugby crazy so it was a huge honour. It was a huge honour to captain such a young side, inexperienced side. Getting their first win in an Irish jersey down in New Zealand, we did it together and to captain the side was very special.”
Attention now shifts to the third test on Saturday between Ireland and New Zealand where Earls and co will look to build on a first ever win away to the All-Blacks.
Earls was on the scoresheet in the first test where Ireland lost 42-19 before earning that maiden win over the weekend.
Ireland face New Zealand in the third test of their Summer Series on Saturday in Wellington at 8.05am Irish Time.
