Shannon RFC’s Greg O’Shea has been included in a 12-man squad that takes part in the final round of the Rugby Europe Sevens Grand Prix Series this weekend in Lodz, Poland.
Ireland have enjoyed a good season in the Grand Prix Series, sitting 10 points clear at the top. Their impressive form to date have ensured that they will take part in the Hong Kong qualifying tournament where they can book a place in the 2019/2010 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series. A good weekend could also see Ireland land the Grand Prix title for the first time.
“The players had a short break after the Rugby World Cup Sevens at the end of July so they’re really looking forward to getting back out there, having put in good work on the training ground over the last number of weeks,” said Anthony Eddy, IRFU Director of Sevens Rugby.
“It’s a great opportunity this weekend to win the Grand Prix title for the first time, so there’s a big emphasis on putting in good performances and getting the new season off to a positive start.”
Live streaming of the Ireland men’s games in Lodz will be available here.
