Patrickswell edge Ahane while Mungret secure a vital win | Thursday Round Up

There were two games played in the Senior Hurling Championship, as well as a host of Intermediate and Junior games.

Thursday evening’s action saw wins for Patrickswell and Mungret St Paul’s in the Senior Hurling Championship, with a number of intercounty stars on show.

The Well edged Ahane by three points for a finish, with goals from Jordan Higgins and Aaron Gillane proving vital. Gillane’s goal in particular was truly special, a team move that passed through the hands of Cian Lynch, finished by the Hurler of the Year elect.

Despite the best efforts of Tom Morrissey, who scored a goal and kept his side in the game with frees, Ahane are facing a very tough test to get out of the group.

In group two, Mungret St Paul’s picked up a crucial win over Adare, to cement their place at the top of the pile.

Niall Mulcahy’s goal sent Mungret on their way, while Sam Hickey and the returning Declan Hannon found the net for Adare. A strong finish from the city club helped them to move onto five points from three games.

With games against Ballybrown and Monaleen still to come, Mungret will be glad they have points on the board.

In the Intermediate Championship, Knockainey and Granagh Ballingarry picked up big wins to solidify their spots at the top of the group. Knockainey defeated Murroe Boher, while Granagh Ballingarry eased past Croom, who are without a win so far this term.

Elsewhere; Monagea, Kilteely Dromkeen and Templeglantine all picked up wins in the Junior A Championship on Thursday evening.
