Munster captain Peter O’Mahony has signed a three-year central contract with the IRFU to remain at the province.
The new deal will ensure the back rower’s services until the end of the 2020-2021 with Munster Rugby confirming the deal in the last hour.

There was intense speculation surrounding O’Mahony’s contract situation with English and French clubs mooted to be interested in the Corkman.
The Cork Con player will make his 99th Munster appearance for Munster at Welford Road on Sunday and is a vital cog in both Johann van Graan’s plans for the province as well as Joe Schmidt’s World Cup squad for 2019.
The news comes as a huge boost for Munster following the recent departures of Donnacha Ryan last season and Simon Zebo’s move to Racing at the end of the current campaign.
The focus will now turn to ensuring that CJ Stander follows suit and signs on the dotted line. Credit must go to the IRFU and Munster for getting the deal over the lien and allowing the province to move forward and concentrate solely on on-field matters.
