Positive news for Munster as Murray returns to full training

Munster have been boosted this morning by the news that Conor Murray has returned to full training. The Irish and Lions scrum half has yet to play this season due to a persistent neck injury.

Murray has also missed Ireland’s Autumn Internationals, including the stunning 16-9 victory over the All Blacks at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday.

Johann van Graan’s men return to action after a two week break this Sunday with a trip to face Zebre in the PRO14 and Murray could feature in that game.

Elsewhere, there was further positive news on the injury front with Chris Farrell, Calvin Nash, Conor Oliver, Jaco Taute and Ronan O’Mahony also making their return to full time training this week.

Farrell has been out the longest of the quintet with a knee injury that he picked up training with Ireland during the Six Nations.

It’s not all good news, however, with Jean Kleyn ruled out for the next six weeks after having an operation on his thumb.

Munster have also announced that Alby Mathewson will be staying with the province after extending his contract to the end of next March.

The former All Black scrum half has impressed greatly since joining Munster on a short term deal earlier this season.
