PREVIEW | Granagh Ballingarry and Mungret St Pauls clash for Junior A Football title

The match up is one of four county finals taking place in Limerick this week.

The Junior A Football Championship comes to a close this weekend when Granagh Ballingarry and Mungret meet in Croom this Saturday.

Both teams got through their respective semi-finals almost three weeks ago after topping their groups. Granagh Ballingarry were 1-16 to 0-10 while Mungret won by a goal in their 1-5 to 0-5 victory over last years’ finalists Camogue Rovers.

There were fine margins in both groups of the championship this year with three sides having matching records at the end of Group One while there was four teams in Group Two finishing on six points.

Granagh Ballingarry have been relatively low scoring in the competition this season, managing the second lowest amount of points but their strong defence resulted in the lowest amount of points conceded in their group, although they did give Ahane a walkover in the second round.

Mungret St Pauls, on the other hand, have plenty of scores to their name with 7-51 in total despite only playing four of their games thanks to a walkover from Na Piarsaigh.

Paths to the Final

Last year, Granagh Ballingarry were Junior B Champions but have adapted superbly to life in the A ranks, standing just sixty minutes from the Premier championship. Mungret St Pauls will be desperate for silverware after their Intermediate side were beaten in the semi-final of the championship.

A place in the Premier Junior A Football is also at stake for both sides on Saturday which is shaping up to be a fantastic weekend of GAA action in Limerick.

Mungret St. Pauls face Granagh Ballingarry this Saturday at 3pm in Croom in the Junior A Football Championship Final.
