PREVIEW | Limerick sides return to action for second round of National Basketball Leagues

Limerick sides had three wins from four in the opening round of fixtures last weekend.

The four Limerick sides involved in the National Basketball Leagues are all back in action this weekend after a successful opening weekend.

Limerick Celtics Men’s and Women’s sides as well as the Limerick Sport Eagles were all victorious in their first outing of the season while the Sport Huskies were defeated by the Portlaoise Panthers.

It’s a short turnaround for all four sides who are back on the court this weekend with three sides playing on Saturday while the Limerick Celtics’ men’s side are in action on Sunday.

The Limerick Celtics women’s team travel to Kerry to face St Pauls Killarney who were 82-42 winners over Marble City Hawks last weekend to go top of the league with just one game played. Both sides will be looking to build on their winning start so it promises to be a tight match.

Meanwhile, the Limerick Sport Huskies will aim to redeem themselves after their first round loss when they face Oblate Dynamos away from home who were also defeated last weekend by Swords Thunder.

In the men’s First Division, Saturday night sees the Limerick Sport Eagles on the road as they face Moy Tolka Rovers. Their opponents were also on the winning side in their opening fixture when they beat Portlaoise Panthers 75-68.

To close the weekend, Limerick Celtics host SETU Carlow who were defeated in the opening round. A century of points against Dwyers of Cork Fr Matthews will have provided a confidence boost for the Celtics as they look to go two for two.

Each game can be watched live on Basketball Ireland TV.
