Preview | Limerick vs Cork Face Off in the Munster Senior Hurling Championship

The Limerick Hurlers prepare to take on Cork in the first round of the Senior Hurling Championship at 4pm in Pairc Ui Chaoimh

The first round of the Senior Hurling Championship gets under way this weekend. The Limerick hurling squad have been training hard over the last couple of weeks and what greater challenge then to face Cork.

Limerick look to seal their fourth All-Ireland Championship in a row as the stadium is set to be a 45,000 person sell out.

These two sides met in the All-Ireland final last August in which Limerick were way too good for the Cork side beating them by 3-32 to 1-22.

So far this season Limerick have had a shaky league campaign but, speaking on Off the Ball yesterday, wing forward Gearoid Hegarty feels the team will be in tip top condition for the championship run.

There is a couple of key Limerick players currently carrying niggles including Cian Lynch, Aaron Gillane and William O’Donoghue who all have slight knocks but a verdict on them won’t come out until the end of the week.
