PREVIEW | Na Piarsaigh begin Munster campaign with Intermediate Football quarter final against Roanmore

Na Piarsaigh remained unbeaten throughout their Intermediate Football Championship journey so far this season.

A place in the Munster Intermediate Football Championship semi-final is at stake as Na Piarsaigh meet Roanmore this Saturday in Kilmallock at 1:15pm.

Both teams were successful in their respective county Intermediate Football Championships with Na Piarsaigh getting past Drom Broadford while Roanmore defeated Ballinameela in the Waterford edition.

Na Piarsaigh have enjoyed a fruitful return to the IFC as they’re yet to taste defeat since their relegation and have won every game on their path to the Munster stages.

Path to the Quarter-Final

Na Piarsaigh

  • R1 : 0-12 : 0-9 v St. Senan’s (W)
  • R2 : W/O : 0-0 v Bruff (W)
  • R3 : 0-8 : 1-5 v Crecora Manister (D)
  • R4 : 1-11 : 1-7 v St. Patrick’s (W)

  • SF : 3-12 : 3-10 v Mungret St. Pauls (W)
  • Final : 2-8 : 2-6 v Dromcollogher Broadford (W)

It was a swift return to the Limerick SFC for Na Piarsaigh as they only suffered relegation last season following their promotion to the top tier in 2014.

That year the Caehrdavin outfit bowed out in the semi-finals of the Munster Intermediate Football championship, losing to Valley Rovers with the score ending 1-11 to 1-8 in favour of the Cork side who finished as provincial runners up.

Their opponents have stormed through the Waterford Football Championships in recent years, winning promotion to the IFC in 2020 for the first time since 1980 and now qualifying for their maiden SFC campaign. Saturday’s fixture will be their first time competing in the Munster IFC since it began in 2003.

According to the bookmakers, Na Piarsaigh will be heading to the semi-final as the faviourites with the City side being priced at 4/7 while the Waterford champions are 7/4 to win their first Munster IFC fixture in history.

A semi-final clash against Tipperary side Ballina awaits the winner as both sides prepare to do battle in Kilmallock.

Na Piarsaigh face Roanmore at 1:15pm this Saturday in Kilmallock in the Munster Intermediate Football Championship quarter-final.
