There will be six sides in ladies SFC action tonight as Feohnagh-Castlemahon get a bye.
Wednesday night will see games in both group one and two as the final round of group fixtures takes place in the Limerick Ladies Senior Football Championship.
Round two saw defending champions Monagea cement their place as group one leaders with a dominant display against St. Brigids while Drom. Broadford notched their first points of the campaign with a 1-7 to 0-7 win over Old Mill.
Elsewhere in group two, only one fixture between Feohanagh-Castlemahon and Ballylanders was played with Ballylanders edging out their opponents by one point. That was a second successive loss as they fell to St Ailbes in round one.
Monagea can assure a semi-final spot with a draw or better tonight but Old Mill or Drom Broadford could surpass them. St Ailbes or Ballylanders will top group two depending on tonight’s contest.
Round three fixtures are as follows:
Group 1
St Brigids v Dromcollogher-Broadford
Wednesday at 7pm in Caherelly
St. Brigids have been struggling in the championship this year and are yet to put any points on the board after two successive defeats. Beating Drom Broadford will put them in with a shout of automatic qualification to the quarter-final depending on point difference while a draw or loss will result in a play-off match.
Drom Broadford got their first win of the campaign against Old Mill last week and are still able to get that first place spot but it will require a fine score line and a Monagea loss in the other fixture. A draw will guarantee a quarter-final spot.
Monagea v Old Mill
Wednesday at 7pm in Old Mill
Monagea have been flawless so far in the competition with two wins in the opening rounds leaving them above the rest on a healthy six points and the favourites for the automatic semi-final place. A draw for the reigning champions is enough to move straight into the semi-final.
Old Mill were unfortunate in round two, losing out by a goal and allowing Drom Broadford to draw level with them. If they win and Drom Broadford fail to do so, they will pass out Monagea by virtue of head to head and advance to the last four.
Group 2
Ballylanders v St. Ailbes
Wednesday at 7pm in Ballylanders
It’s a battle for first place between these two sides as both will be hoping for the automatic place in the semi-final. Ballylanders were narrow winners against Feohanagh-Castlemahon last time out, only beating the bottom side by a point while St. Ailbes were six point winners over the same team.
It will be an intriguing battle between the two with an automatic semi final place up for grabs. The loser is guaranteed to qualify for the quarter finals while a draw will be enough for Ailbes to top the group.
